Mpho de Jaar
Mpho de Jaar is a seasoned producer, writer, director and mentor and has been part of training of youth in the North West province. Backed by over 2 decades of experience nationally, continentally and abroad, she has facilitated, assessed and trained in the film and television medium. She has been an integral as a part of the founding management of a community radio station and is taking up the same commitment as part of the founding management of the first television channel in the province. Born in Itsoseng and raised in Klerksdorp, putting her province on the map is what drives all her efforts.
United Kingdom
Miss de Jaar desired to test her limits and travelled to London. She worked for Market Probe Europe Limited and served as a supervising researcher for clients such as a BBC, Johnson &Johnson as well as Capital FM. She went on to work for Soul of Africa production as a creative producer.
Radio and Print
As a story-teller, driven by passion in mass media as a whole, Mpho has dabbled in fields outside of audio visual. She has served as a Marketing Manager for Star FM in its infancy stages. Driven by her desire to grow media in her home province, she further went on to work for Junk Mail Publishers as an online sales Executive. This made her gain understanding in not only creativity in the sector but also in grasping the business of media.
Television
During her time in the industry, Mpho de Jaar has been part of teams and even lead some in roles ranging from production assistant, production manager, writer, director and producer.
Backstage-2000-2002 (eTV 18:30 weekdays)
Tshivhudzo-2008-2010 (SABC 3 Sundays). With her desire to plough back to the North West Province she funded, wrote, produced and directed Redemption. A made- for- tv movie with local actors. She has also led a successful leadership in the city of Matlosana for an NQF Level 5 certificate in: Film and Television Productions.
Qualifications and Recognition
Mpho de Jaar started her Journey in the industry after Matric when she began to study Video Production in Media Village, Cape Town. She extended her studies when she began studying for a BA Communications with UNISA. Mentoring in the internship programmes lead her to seek to be an accredited Life Coach. She is also a MICTSETA recognized assessor and Moderator Accolades. Mpho and her team have received a silver Award for their student project from National Television and Video awards. Mpho has received a Women in Leadership Award from the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana
